Old Boots left this review about The Hop Shack

A bottle shop where you can “drink in” one of nine craft kegs, a splendid choice from Kirkstall, Deya, Verdant, Northern Monk, Track, Tartarus and Veltins for the less adventurous. There’s an U shaped counter to the right and a fridge of bottles and cans, the left hand side has shelves of more bottles and cans, you can drink any in for a 50p premium. Oddly there’s a screen at the front. Seating at bar stools and a couple of small high tables and a shelf, more seating upstairs. Unisex toilet in basement down a staircase decorated with tap clips. Seems to have a small band of happy regulars.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Hop Shack

Micro-pub sized craft beer bar and bottle / can shop with a light modern interior. Just a couple of small round tables plus a few tall barstools plus a pair of canteen tables out on the pavement. Eight of the nine keg taps on the bar-back were in use, offering Veltins pilsner and an interesting selection of more local products in a range of styles and strengths, including my Hum from Beak (£6.20).

One room with bar to middle right. Cans in fridge before it and a dartboard to the right rear. More unchilled cans to the left. Adequate bar selection but nothing outstanding. Unvisited room upstairs and toilets downstairs. Would revisit to see if the beers improve.

Advertised as a Craft Beer Bottle Shop and Micro Pub. I really liked this place, the atmosphere was jolly and also had a good laidback feel to the place. The pub was quite busy on our Tuesday night visit. There was a group of lads playing darts at the end of the bar and a bunch of friendly and chatty drinkers sat on stools along the bar. We managed to get a couple of stools at the end of the bar on the door entrance side. There was a very extensive selection of bottled and canned beers found across three chill cabinets. I went for the Beavertown Neck Oil and Beavertown Lupuloid in cans, which were reasonably priced. There was also six craft beers on tap, dispensed from chrome taps from behind the bar, so we went for the Abbeydale Heathen, which was excellent.

Newly opened bar and bottle shop. Six lines feature craft and continental beers.
