David Walton left this review about Welbeck Hotel
Visited 02/06/26. Visited previously 02/10/23.
Cask here was two from Bushey’s the TT Special the Shuttleworth Snap an IPA in very fine nick and the Manx Bitter. Keg was Okells Best, Madri, Guinness and Peroni.
The bar in the Welbeck is a classy affair. Colourfully carpeted with the light oak bar counter a curved affair with some tall stool seating at its right most end alongside a small fabric upholstered banquette serving a tall table. There is an array of dark red studded bucket armchairs and a small sofa serving regular tables in the bay window to the left of the entrance and then the same style of banquette as to the edge of the bar counter along the wall facing the bar counter to the left of the entrance and then along the left-hand wall all serving regular tables with regular chairs the other side thereof. No screen or background music in this intimate bar area. Up a flight of steps at the right-hand end of the bar counter is the Alexander Gill Room (he was a 19th Century property developer on the island and built this very hotel). It is a bare boarded area with pool table, dart board, and screen with a few small tables to perch at. There is a small, raised seating area out the front (ok it is astroturfed) with regular patio style furniture that has a nice aspect. I think this is one of the best hotel bars on the island.
