Formerly The New Inn, then The Harcourt Arms Hotel, I recall coming here in the mid-90s with my potential wife and in-laws and it being some American-themed place and being excited as they offered 4-pint pitchers of Budweiser lager (I was a lot younger then). Now a Chinese restaurant, the name always reminds me of the song 'Cockatoo' by the band Fists. A sprawling U-shaped building, it's all rather garish inside - there's a bar area where you can grab an ale (Hook Norton Lion - £3.80 a pint and tasted as if it hadn't been pulled through at start of play), a sunken lounge-type area and a large dining room. Very little to right home about and although Nuneham Courtenay is nothing more than a drive-through village these days, the picturesque 'same-style' houses either side of the road deserve better than this.
