Strongers . left this review about St Peter’s Tavern
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to win our drinking spurs at St Peter’s Tavern, Hallelujah, go forth and drink from my 12 hand pumps that overfloweth with ales from across this bright and beautiful land… OK that’s enough.
This is an old church, St Peter’s Church, that has been turned into a very interesting and must visit bar that still retains its alter on the far wall where some high seating can also now be found. A very long and a short counter, both lined with stools, run up the right of the nave facing thick wooden tables, the sort you’d expect in a church, that run up the left. In fact everything is church like from the stained glass windows, old exposed brock and bare board flooring. Both transepts have been turned into seating areas and a long decked seating area can be accessed from the left side. The furniture in this outside area looked as though it had been stolen from an Italian restaurant. Upstairs was not open during a recent Monday evening visit, but I noted two levels of balcony seating, maybe I’ll get to have a look next time.
The 12 hand pumps that I counted on the very high counters were drawing three Lilley ciders alongside a decent pint of Bass, Higson’s Pale, Northern Monk’s Sup, Black Sheep, Neptune’s Waterfront, Beartown’s Otso, Ossett’s White Rat and Salopian’s Port in a Storm. The twelfth pump had just gone off and there are four more pumps on the shorter counter towards the front, but these were just double ups and this counter was closed. The days of this place being Alma De Cuba have bought its score down so I nearly missed it, only being drawn in by the big writing on the side of the building. I’m glad I visited and I’ll make sure to revisit when next in Liverpool.

Real Ale Ray left this review about St Peter’s Tavern
This is a first for me a pub with an altar, Praise the Lord. The staff were telling me that only a few months ago a couple got married in here, as they had met in this building when it was Alma de Cuba.
I called in here just on opening at 12 and had the place to myself and I found the staff very engaging and chatty as I sat at the bar trying a few different ales. The handpump line up was Bass, Titanic choc and vanilla stout, Ossett White Rat and Northern Wave Porter, Salopian Oracle, Northern Monk Sup, Brimstage Trappers Hat and Weetwood Cheshire Cat. Please note that their ales are split over two bar areas the main bar near the altar and a smaller bar area situated at the opposite end.

Brainy Pool left this review about St Peter’s Tavern
1936 pub company‘s transformation of the old church previously housing Alma de Cuba may be their most ambitious project yet. A vast restoration respecting the fabric of the building and yet reinventing it as an enormous traditional style pub. The below review doesn’t mention that there are actually two more floors including an extra bar on the third floor, it is an extraordinary place. Umpteen real ales on including Bass and a number of dark beers- needless to say it’s a must visit.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about St Peter’s Tavern
The pub group that owns this former chapel have done an excellent job with refurbishing it and re-opening it as another one of their expanding chain of excellent real ale bars. Whilst not quite as impressive as the Vines, this one is certainly up there.
You enter to a long bar split into two parts with seating in front and behind, in addition to raised areas near the front, a small seating area near the old altar and a corner chapel where we sat. I'm sure there were other areas that I didn't explore.
Ossett White Rat is the regular ale. Guests for our early Wednesday evening visit were Salopian Lemon Dream, Bass, Black Lodge Four Star Daydream, Titanic Cherry Porter, Neptune Selkie, Beartown Creme Brulee, Weetwood Eastgate & Carnival Never A Frown. Ciders were Lilley's Tropical & Rhubarb ciders & Gwynt y Ddraig Happy Daze. Craft beers were Brixton Reliance & Northern Monk A Little Faith.
Situated in the main Liverpool nightlife area, this pub opens until 1:30am even during the week. It's another excellent addition to Liverpool's drinking scene and I know I'll be back again soon. The group that now own it have a great set of pubs to visit, all with different qualities.

This is a converted church. A central island bar serves a variety of gobbledygook cocktail things and fizzcrafty stuff. There is an upstairs mezzanine-like part which I've never been to. Usually full of trendy arses, semi-famous women, midlife crises men and the generally baffled. Its all low lighting and that's probably for the best. An outside side beer garden is available. Its rubbish.
