For many years a decent gastropub, one were arriving for just a drink came as anathema to the serving staff, they have now converted what was a barn in the car park in the 'Stables Bar' where those after a mere liquid diet can congregate, so rather than scaling the steps into the main building, walk right, through a glass door. It's a decent conversion, with typical bar beams, re-pointed brick and flint walls and a hessian-type carpet. Standard tables and chairs continue a sensible outlook. Just the one ale - Tring Hummingbird, which was in good shape (another pump was unclipped) and there were several real ales in bottles in the fridge, and although it's nothing to set the world on fire, they're to be applauded for making the effort to create this drinkers-only space.
