Blackthorn _ left this review about Old Street Tavern

Located just around the corner from the Market Square, this looks a little plain perhaps in comparison to many of the attractive timbered buildings in Ludlow, and seemed to attract more of a local’s crowd than many of the more touristy options nearby.

Internally it consists of a couple of rooms downstairs, with a room upstairs that is used for live music. We had thought we might go and see the singer, but all seats were taken and there was nowhere to really stand without blocking people’s view. The room to the left is the smaller of the two, and this was quite traditional in terms of décor with a quarry tiled floor, aqua blue paintwork on the walls and ceiling with a contrasting maroon chimney breast. Plenty of old black and white pictures were on the walls and there was a small wood burning stove in the fireplace. Fitted bench seating was along one wall, as well as small tables and chairs, and a ledge to rest your pint on elsewhere. The larger room to the right which included the bar counter was broadly similar in terms of décor.

Beers on tap were Oakham Citra and Bishops Farewell, Wye Valley HPA and Abbeydale Absolution. The solitary cider meanwhile was Cornish Rattler.

ROB Camra left this review about Old Street Tavern

Looks like this may have moved on again since the last review. You enter into a small seating area, the bar is up a couple of steps to your right where there's some more seating. Upstairs is another seating area which is also used as a small function room and for live music. Three handpumps on the bar with Ludlow and Hobsons on two of the pumps and rather unusully for round here, Oakham Citra on the third pump. I had a pint of the Ludlow and Ms CAMRA a half of the citra. Both were in very good nick. Plenty of banter going on amongst some of the most well spoken people I've ever come acrooss in a micropub. Judging by the conversation topics they're not really posh, they just sound it. We'll call back next time we're in Ludlow.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Artisan Ales (Old Tap Room)

The layout has changed slightly with a tiny bar downstairs, plus some seating and the owner's wife has the upstairs section for her vintage clothes and oddments, plus you can still use the upstairs for extra seating. This micro was quite retro with a 60's style theme, with brightly coloured walls and bright coloured chairs. The owner was very friendly and had two ales on stillage from Three Tuns Brewery, which were Three Tuns Best Bitter and Rantipole pale ale. Out of the two I thought the Best Bitter was excellent.

A decent little place with a bottle shop on the ground floor and a small one roomed bar upstairs. Sadly only one beer on gravity on my visit which was from Swan(?) Brewery. Friendly enough and worth popping into.

Old Boots left this review about Artisan Ales (Old Tap Room)

A micro pub housed in an upstairs room with a couple of beers on gravity above an offy. Furnished with a collection of Britannia tables, wooden stools and sofas. In the best traditions of micropubs the craic is good and inclusive don't miss this one.

Will Larter left this review about Artisan Ales (Old Tap Room)

Just a few steps away from Ludlow's busy and tourist-infested town centre is the Artisan Ales beer shop and micropub. The bar is upstairs, with a lounge containing a few sofas and half a dozen tables and stools. Beer is served direct from the barrel - the stillage is in an adjoining room. I was unlucky in that most of the beers had run off during the weekend, so that on my Tuesday afternoon visit there was only Ludlow Gold available - this was in very good condition. The owner was friendly and chatty, and I would be happy to return next time I'm in Ludlow.

. Wittenden left this review about Old Tap Room

A newly opened micropub above an established real ale off licence. A fairly plainly furnished room, with tables and chairs, a rudimentary servery and beer strait from the cask. Beers purchased from the shop below can be enjoyed as well.
On my early evening visit on a rainy October Saturday, the pub was busy with beer lovers, both local and tourists:much information and comment was offered.
Two real ales available-Ludlow Gold and an excellent pint of Hobson's Best Bitter.A friendly place for a drink, perhaps better known as Artisan Ales.
