I have been to Café Beermoth several times since my 2021 review. I always enjoy the variety of beer available, a mix of cask and keg, though it does sometimes feel a bit of a mission craning your neck to read all the A4 sheets of paper high up at the back of the bar in order to take in what is available. That said, the venue is Untappd Verified, so those using that platform can peruse the menu from the comfort of their mobile device. My most recent visit was on a Friday afternoon in June, where I went for the Jaipur (from the Union) on cask. I'm not sure it is necessarily an improvement over regular cask Jaipur, but nonetheless it was good to try it. My half set me back £3.15, which I don't consider at all bad for a fancy beer place, especially compared to the prices in some of the bog standard places I had visited on the same day.
Raised booths to the front by the windows, which quickly fill up during busy periods. Standard tables and chairs elsewhere. There is an upstairs area, which I have not investigated for many years, but used to offer additional seating. I assume it still does?

Well described, one large rectangular room with some comfortable booth seating opposite the bar, otherwise largely utilitarian. Lacking any real charm inside, it felt fairly depressing despite the raucous punk rock on the speakers. Wide selection of obscure beers on the taps, a bit difficult to read though and I mistakenly chose 2/3 of a fighting strength IPA… only realised they sold cask afterwards.

Yesterday was my first visit to Cafe Beermoth for over 6 years. It's a fairly inconspicuous bar occupying a large, modern building. There's a good range of both cask and keg beers along the bar. Whilst there are handpulls at the rear of the bar, there are no pumpclips on display and it's not easy to identify which of the beers listed are cask and which are keg.
However, on our Saturday afternoon visit, cask beers turned out to be Left-Handed Giant Beer Number 7, The Kernel Dry Stout Cashmere, Runaway Queen Bees & Stone's Throw, Cloudwater Strata In Your Heart, Squawk Pavo & RedWillow Faithless 191. Craft beers were Rivington Days of Candy & Poison of Madness, Schlenkerla Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche - Doppelbock, Cloudwater Good Bubble, Jester King Hazy IPA, 100 Degrees, Spon Three Year Blend & Doom Forge & Saint Mars of the Desert D'Or Mouse. There were no ciders that I could see.
I'm not a fan of the industrial decor and staff behind the bar seemed a bit gormless and were overhwelmed by a group of 7 of us walking in. In addition, there's no wifi here, which is particularly frustrating when there's no phone signal either.
This place undoubtedly has a great beer selection, but lacks in terms of atmosphere and service. Handy if you fancy something a little different, but not really a place to linger.

After a night of more random, yet gloriously bonkers pubs (Wheatsheaf, Mother Macs, Millstone), I am back on the GBG Ticking. Which is something of an anti-climax after the "all walks of life (and some unexpected) seen at the other pubs.
No questioning the beer range - 14 odd from Newbarns on a tap takeover. Plus other. Plumage Archer was worthy of the recommendations I had been seeing on Twitter.
However, in terms of atmosphere, it was a but identikit feel off long benches, massive bar, with little atmosphere. Sort of reminiscent of Head of Steam, Bar and Kitchen type places.
I would certainly come back for another Tap Takeover of interest.
REVISIT ON 9/12/23 - Same observations as before but upping my score for a superb Kernel Bitter Simmons 1880 on cask. Absolutely wonderful.

Café Beermoth is a large rectangular open plan industrial bar with a hint of BrewDog, but with the addition of cask ale. The bar counter runs along the rear wall to the right and along the glass back bar, which looks into the cellar room at the rear, are ten craft keg fonts split down the middle by seven hand pumps. I went for a Buxton Gatekeeper, a porter that was spot on. A fridge is stocked with cans for those who like to take-away. Booths run along the front windows and high benches with stools run off the central supporting pillars. There are stairs, but I didn’t venture up. The service was very friendly so I would return, but this isn’t somewhere I would stay for more than a couple of pints.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Café Beermoth
Looks very much like a semi-industrial BrewDog-style craft beer bar (which it undoubtedly is) but seven of the 17 taps on the bar-back are handpumps, so real ale is also very important here too... Spoilt for choice, I went for This Land from Odyssey (£4.80) which proved to be a rewarding - if deliberately hazy - pint.

Visited this 2022 Good Beer Guide pub on 11.8.22 and it was a delight with a lot of cask beers as well as craft so there was plenty of choice. We enjoyed a Newbarns Pale Ale with Chinook, Talus and Ekuanot hops.

At the base of an anonymous office block and that feeling is replicated within, dark and fairly drab. There's a row of booths running along the front but if you can't bag one of those then it's uncomfy chair and tall stool options. Talking Heads on the stereo, because of course. Seven cask emerging from the back wall that I could make out, in small font and not very punter-friendly. LHG Dark Mild fairly flat and uninspiring (NBSS 2) plus a load of crafty keg options. Prices reasonable, at least. Not persuaded to hang around, this all felt very perfunctory outside of nosing through the more whacky craft and bottled options which I would be minded to do if I visited again. GBG ’22 listed.

Visited a couple of weekends ago, prior to the easing of restrictions on 19 July. We had booked a table though when we arrived we discovered this hadn't been necessary as it was fairly quiet. However it did mean we had a nice booth reserved for us! Table service, of course, and at the time of our visit the staff were unsure if this would continue post "Freedom Day" or not. No app to order from, the friendly barman came and gave us a paper menu and crossed out a couple of items which were no longer available. We managed one drink of something on cask (Blackjack Amarillo Porter, unusual but pleasant) before the other cask options seemed to dry up, leaving us with the keg beers. Plenty to choose from on keg, varying styles, strengths and prices, and we had no issue staying for another couple of drinks and exploring the menu.
Service was attentive, possibly helped by the place not being mad busy, but they certainly seemed to have enough staff on to cope so we weren't left waiting long between finishing our drinks and someone taking our order for the next round. With table service, this is key, and a recent source of frustration at some other establishments for me has been having difficulty attracting the attention of a member of staff when ready to order the next drink.
Beers, as ever, in good condition, and for me this place is one I would happily recommend.

This is a spacious modern beer bar operated by the owners of a bottle shop in the Northern Quarter. The pub has a typical, modern craft beer bar feel to it, with a large, single room set-up that sees the servery run along the right hand half of the rear wall. The bar has a fairly drab, utilitarian counter, hop lined counter, handpulls along the bar back and windows behind that look through to the white tiled cellar room out the back. Rough cut wooden ledges with high stools run across the space opposite the bar whilst a series of padded banquette booths track the long row of front windows, each partitioned by a nice wooden frame structure that has been liberally decorated with more hops. The left side of the room has regular tables and chairs for the most part, plus a Chesterfield sofa to the far left next to the side windows, all under a series of shelves holding a beer bottle collection. The usual craft beer decorating company must’ve been employed here, as the walls are all painted grey, the ceiling is a mess of exposed utilities and decor is an afterthought. Somehow, this didn’t grate on me as much as it might normally, perhaps because the comfy seating, muted lighting and suitable background music helped make the place feel a lot more comfortable than it sounds on paper. That being said, I did visit at quite a quiet period and can imagine the room getting loud and echoey with a large crowd in.
A board above the bar details the full beer range but I couldn’t figure out which beers were on cask, so a very helpful barman patiently talked me through all the cask options which amounted to Thornbridge Jaipur, Red Willow Smokeless, Torrside Monsters Imperial Porter, Hawkshead Lakeland Gold, Siren Undercurrent, Vocation Chop and Change and Fallen Local Motive. A further ten craft keg brews were also available including a few rarely seen, interesting sounding European beers. My pint of the Chop and Change cost £4.00 and was in excellent condition.
This felt like it landed somewhere between your typical craft beer bar and a more well thought-out, contemporary ale house, without really delivering either. I thought the beer range and quality was up there with anything I’ve come across in Manchester and was more than happy settling down with my pint but question whether the beer alone is enough to keep me here for a longer session. Probably needs a revisit at a busier time to properly assess but I left with a favourable impression and would suggest it’s a must-visit for those seeking good craft beer bars in the city centre.
