Strongers . left this review about The Weighbridge Inn
I walked past the Weighbridge Inn twice and I was specifically looking for it so even though very central I imagine there’s not much passing trade from those not in the know. This is a tiny place with a small bar on the rear wall adjacent to a small table and a fireplace to the left. Further left is a small room with another fireplace, the back of the one in the bar, and some overspill bench seating, where I ended up due to the six other people in attendance packing out the bar area. The four hand pumps were drawing Muirhouse Tick Tick Boom, Woodforde’s Bolt, Dancing Duck Duzzy? and 3Ps Brewery’s Anchor Pan. There are also four craft keg fonts on the right back bar where lots of framed award certificates hang. The Duzzy? was excellent and the two people running the show were friendly enough so I see no reason why I wouldn’t make a return visit.

Set inside an old coal yard office in the car park of a large hotel, this is about as unlikely a place to find some good beer as you’re likely to get, but this quirky little building has been converted into a pleasant two-room micropub which offered a warm welcome when I popped in shortly before closing on a friday evening. It’s a cosy place with a small porch leading into the main bar space. A few bar stools are squeezed into a tight space opposite the bar, with a few tables and chairs in a more open area to the rear. The bar runs along part of the back wall and has a simple counter and rather plain bar back which has been enlivened somewhat by a proud collection of certificates for the pub and their Muirhouse brewery. The room was pretty packed when I arrived, but the super-friendly barmaid directed me to a small side room where fixed benches and low stools offered some much needed overspill. This room is a little plain thanks to its white walls and dark wood dado/back rest, but some colourful cushions on the benches helped to brighten things up a little, whilst photo murals, a framed newspaper article about the pub and some well stocked bookshelves added some visual distraction. The door connecting the two rooms had some nice etched glass work, but I didn’t spot much else of historic interest, instead distracted by the TV screen showing a muted FA Cup fixture with a pop music soundtrack playing over the top.
Three Muirhouse beers - Jungle Juice, Tick Tock Boom and Pale - were available alongside a guest of Leatherbritches Stouter. The Jungle Juice was a good drop and I liked the convivial atmosphere which the cheery staff and welcoming locals helped create here.
This is a pretty decent micropub that suffers a little from being located in the ‘wrong’ direction from the station and hampers itself with limited opening hours, but if you can find your way here at the right time, you’ll be rewarded with some good beer, friendly service and a welcoming environment.

A warm and cosy feeling little pub handy for the station if you're around in the evening, the beers that were on are listed below, I had Muirhouse Hopgarden and it was very agreeable as was the pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Weighbridge Inn
Typical micro-pub housed in a low, narrow building just opposite the eponymous (disused) facility. Just a pair of tables in the compact bar, although there is another small room - in darkness when I visited - beyond. Two 'house' Muirhouse beers - Hop Garden (featuring Admiral and Godiva hops, £3.40) and Tick Tock Boom - and a pair from Wantsum in Kent - 1381 and Black Prince - on the four handpumps. Also has AM:PM and Jaipur from Thornbridge, Pravha lager and a cider from four keg taps on the side wall plus three more boxed ciders.

A rather cute little pub in the historic weighbridge buildings, as the name suggests, with a tiny brewery in the weighing office itself. Two fairly plain rooms were being well utilised by the regulars, including a couple playing cribbage. Beers as described by those below visiting later, and very pleasant too. Definitely worth a visit.

Situated not far from the behemoth (beermoth?) that is part of the Molson Coors facility, this is certainly more characterful than many a micro (although this is only my second) and the final stop of my 11-hole crawl, arriving after Will and Mr and Mrs Ale, but shortly before BF.
I went for a half of the Muirhouse Tick Tock Boom, a great choice and just £1.70 a half, served by an initially suspicious barmaid, though she lent me a smile when I ordered my second.
This was an excellent final stop before the short walk to the station and a must-visit on any crawl.

Interesting micro based in a former goods yard office, there is one solid entrance door leading almost immediately to the small central bar.To the right is a modest sized room, while beyond the bar are two futher section with a final tiny snug. All very charming and friendly.
Four ales on my trip in Muirhouse (who own the buildings lease) Hop Garden and Tick Tock Boom along with guests in Wantsum 1381 and Black Prince Mild (NBSS 4).
A must visit on any ale tour through town ,it's closeness to the station is a distinct advantage.Limited opening hours so check before hand.I really liked it,last pub of an extensive crawl.

My final pub of an 11-pub crawl around Burton, but I can remember talking to the owner, one of the brewers at Muirhouse in Ilkeston, about their inability to find a pub to take on in their home town (hence their presence here in Staffs), so I can't have been too far gone. This is a micropub based in a stand-alone building not far from the station. There was a cheerful, buzzy atmosphere when I arrived half an hour before my train out of Burton, but I received a friendly welcome and discussed the beer options with the barman/owner/brewer. With only one of their beers on the bar (the other three were from another brewery - a sort of tap takeover in a brewery tap) I thought it would be rude not to drink it: Tick Tock Boom, a 4.5% best bitter with a very nice bitter finish. It must have been good because usually after a day's drinking the taste buds become a little jaded, but this one cut right through, and had to be my beer of the day (in the face of some stiff competition, it has to said). Definitely worth a return visit, but note that opening hours on WhatPub and Facebook are not the same, so check before making a special journey.

An intriguing little place by the railway station and Travelodge. It’s a former coal yard office which is now essentially a small micro leased by Muirhouse Brewery. Two rooms, a plain bar area with a J shaped bar counter on entering and another further back with all the lights off. Only one old boy and a barmaid at 10.30pm on a Thursday evening. Four ales on, 2x Muirhouse, Wantsum Black Pig West Coast Rock Wonky Donkey. I tried the Muirhouse Hop Garden which a bit warm and so-so (NBSS 2) and not a particularly good brew anyway. Maybe I timed my visit badly but I didn’t really rate it much.

Decent two room micro pub with four hand pumps, the best of which was 4.8% ABV. Pleasant landlord. We went back prior to getting the train and there are also take outs available.
