Hed’On Inn is a micropub that I never would have found without the aid of a map. I was actually stood outside and I still didn’t see the entrance, maybe I was looking for a pub rather than bar. My initial visit was not long before 19:00 when it was very busy, in fact I had to share a table at the rear of this small space. The serving counter on the rear wall was being run by a polite, if slightly clueless barmaid. She could certainly pour a pint, but she didn’t really seem to know anything about the place, which the locals at the bar were playing on, especially the lack of prices being displayed. Titanic’s Plum Porter, Black Sheep’s Best, Rudgate’s Ruby Mild, St Austell’s Tribute and Ilkley’s Blonde Session Ale were available from the five hand pumps. I had a beautiful pint of the Porter.
I popped back in about an hour and a half later to find the place completely empty. The barmaid informed me that this exodus happens every week day, except Wednesdays when there’s the weekly quiz. With the crowds gone I could here the background music, which was a bit niche if I’m being honest. However, this didn’t stop me staying for another couple of pints of Porter. I liked it in here and will do a double header with the Queens Head next time I’m in town.

This micropub was our favourite pub of the day in East Yorkshire. It's situated down an alleyway from the main street and next to the town's main car park.
Seating is available both inside and out. The interior is a little on the dark side and speaking of dark, I was quite pleased to find a couple of dark beers on cask, given none of the other pubs we visited stocked a dark ale. The regular beer is Black Sheep Best Bitter, with 4 guests - Magpie Raven, Great Newsome Elderflower Power & Holderness Dark & By The Horns Hopadelic.
As the previous reviewer has said, there is also a fridge full of Lilley's ciders. On our visit, these were Strawberry Cider, Pineapple Cider, Tropical Cider, Elderflower Cider, Cherries & Berries, Lemon & Lime Cider, Peach Cider & Apple & Blackberry Cider. In addition, they also stocked Weston's Old Rosie & Broadoak Moonshine.
There was no mention of a CAMRA discount. So, this may well have been discontinued.

A pleasant and comfortable bar tucked in the back of the shops, facing a car park, furnished with peripheral banquettes in the traditional way. There are a few benches outside also. A nice bank of six handpumps offered a slightly more exotic range than most in the area, with Titanic Plum Porter, Bath Prophecy, Salopian Lemon Dream, Black Sheep Best and Peasantry Dragonfly at time of visit. Condition of those sampled was excellent and there is a fridgeful of Lilley's ciders also.

A micropub that has been squeezed into the end of a building off St Augustine Gate, with the car park beginning just by the step leading to the entrance. At the time of our visit there was an "acoustic session" taking place, so we carefully made our way through half a dozen guitars to reach the well-stocked bar. (See photos for beer offering.) The pub has been open for two years and the owner is enthusiastic and friendly, making an effort to talk to us even though she deserved a rest on a busy afternoon. My partner would give top marks to any pub serving Titanic Plum Porter; I was driving so limited myself to Brakspears Bitter, but this was in top nick too. The landlady told us about HedFest, but that comes too soon for us to get back to Hedon, a town with a name that must seem like God's gift to punsters. "Head on in" to this pub if you're ever in Hedon.
