Quinno _ left this review about Riders Country House Hotel
Crackers hotel bar that seems to exist solely to cater for its own guests rather than the passing trade of the A4. Stopped by to see if they served ale to the great unwashed after noting the Rebellion plaque on the wall but not seeing the place listed either on here or WhatPub. The woman inside looked startled to see us and seemed rather in her own world throughout our ten minute stop beyond the odd burst of garbled conversation during which she seemed unable to comprehend quite what we were up to, trying all the pubs in Berkshire. Naturally, we were the only people in there the entire time. Two ales; Rebellion Red (absolutely cask-breathered to within an inch of its zombiefied life) and Robinsons Trooper. Our halves were amusingly served in unmarked wine glasses (what would Trading Standards say?). Interior was a combination of Fawlty Towers circa 1977 and a trip to one of those cheap and cheerful Asian furniture shops. No light in the gents, perhaps inevitable and a strained metaphor for the place itself. It’s all a bit Royston Vasey in here, though at least we burst out laughing when we went back out the front door.
