A canal-side pub, though mainly intended for family dining rather than the boating community; there are no moorings (sorry BF). It’s next to the marina, however,so there is hope. A Marston’s new build, it appears to be an adjunct to the adjacent housing estate, though it’s more upmarket than many similar establishments. There is a large car park at the side, and the front terrace overlooks the canal. Inside, the three areas are open plan, more for the convenience of the staff than diners’ comfort. You are greeted by a pleasant member of staff if you come in the front door, but those of us who sneaked in the back door were glared at at first. The walls are brick, there is a mix of concrete and timber beams, the floor is laminate and there is a modern woodburner in one of the side rooms areas. The menu is modern bistro style, while cheap wines, cocktails and tea/coffee is advertised. Ales on were Hobgoblin Gold and Ringwood Razorback, both in good condition. I’d be happy to come back if passing, but if you intend eating I’d make sure you book first, especially in peak periods.
