ROB Camra left this review about Tap 'n' Barrel
A micropub with a covered yard owned by Martland Mill brewery. The seating in the main room is limited to high stools with ledges to rest your beer all around the outside. There are some black plastic tables and chairs that look like garden furniture in the covered area and the floor is covered in green fake grass. The walls are mainly plain with just a few bits and pieces on them. 6 handpumps on the bar, all fom Martland Mill, which is a bit of a shame as I'm not really a fan. I had a pint of D Day Bomber which was OK and served by a rather brusque barmaid. Maybe she was having a bad day, who knows, but I wasn't impressed with her or the place really.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Tap 'n' Barrel
Just for the record the Tap 'n' Barrel is the outlet for Martland Mill Brewery. There were six Martland ales on handpump on our Friday afternoon visit. So between four of us on this visit we managed to get to taste all six and having the option of purchasing a paddle of three ales also helped. The Spinners Gold and Clogmakers golden ale were my two favourites and would quite happily sink a good few of them. The barmaid on our visit was friendly and welcoming and explained that the Tap 'n' Barrel was once a clothes shop. Another delicacy on this visit was the local pork pie, which got demolished quickly. If you're stuck for seats on your visit, they have an upstairs room with adequate seating, this Micro is well worth a visit.

The Tap n Barrel is situated in a mews close to the bus station in the Victorian Quarter of Wigan and an outlet for the Marland Mill Brewery Tap and once inside is larger than it appears from the outside. On entry the longish bar is to the right with about 12 tall stools against the wall on the left. There are 4 larger stools against the window that looks onto the mews.Beyond the bar is a rather pleasant covered no smoking garden area with around 10 tables seating up to 30 people
There were 6 interesting cask beers on show during my lunchtime visit and the cask I bought a snip at £2.40p a pint. The bar opens at 12 although closed on a Tuesday. There is also entertainment on a Sunday afternoon.

The Brewery Tap for Maryland Brewery. 6 handpumps dispensing 6 of their beers. An upstairs bar and a courtyard out back give extra seating.
