It was a bit crammed in the tiny bar area as four others waited to be served during my recent Friday afternoon visit. As two hurried staff members jockeyed for position behind the tiny bar I wondered what the big rush was. Available from the bar were Whitstable Bay Pale Ale and Oyster Stout alongside Asahi, Aspalls and a house lager. Food is available. The toilets are located downstairs where there is more seating and a retro arcade machine. The rush at the bar became apparent as I descended the stairs at the rear into the long, thin and very busy beer garden. Seating runs the length of the fence on both sides and there is some covered seating at the rear. Chilled dance music was playing.
Apparently Neighbourhood has been voted in the top 16 secret bars in the country. I am unsure what criteria must be met before a bar can classify itself as ‘secret’. I certainly had no issues finding this place. Would I return? Yeah, why not.
