The Works advertises itself online as a three-storey business hub with office and desk space for hire, but the wooden floored ground floor has been turned into a bar with a central pool table. Brick patterned wallpaper is found up the left-hand wall and on the right-hand wall is a television that had a Christmas fireside screensaver playing. The customers were in their early twenties, so older than the two venues either side, and there was some very random background music which went from modern dance to Mariah Carey. The counter being run by a friendly young lady in the right rear corner has no draught, so I went for a shot of Jack Daniels which set me back a massive £6, which is the same as I was charged in the ECC next door for a can of Stella, the young people of Eastbourne must have more money than sense. This back-alley strip of late bars is shite and hopefully it’ll be a long time before I have to visit again.
