well, the access of Broad Street is now blocked off. Could see the drinkers, could see the pub sign that tricked me into thinking this was an actual pub. The bouncer next door didnt know how to get in but once I start a challenge, I dont give up!
You now need to go around the left hand corner, where it becomes clear that this is the bar for the Hyatt hotel, despite the pub sign on the main road simply saying "Gentleman and Scholar".
It a hotel bar - so you know what to expect. They did have the England game on a TV and the area you see from Broad Street is technically outside. They charge £8.20 for a pint of Asahi and will chop the end of your cigar off for £15.
I will never come here again. Even if staying at the Hyatt :-)

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Gentleman & Scholar (Hyatt Regency Birmingham)
Bar for the Hyatt Regency hotel but with its own entrance off Broad Street for the passing trade. Light, modern furniture and decor in the bar area, as one would expect, but the covered front patio terrace is also quite a draw in the right weather. No real ale unfortunately, and the paltry keg offerings are hideously overpriced of course (e.g. the Caledonia Coast to Coast at £6.50), but it does offer something of a civilised spot for a drink compared with some other places in the vicinity.

Hotel bar fronting Broad Street to the side of Hyatt Hotel, fitted out ok, light, airy but comfortable. No real ale
