Just five hand pumps now, and I was told they usually have three beers on: GK Abbot and Thornbridge Jaipur, plus one from local Abbeydale brewery (mostly Deception, Absolution or Moonshine). I had halves of Abbot and Jaipur, which were both around NBSS 3, but the Abbot soon lost whatever sparkle if had, and at £4.75 for the two, this seemed pretty poor value for Sheffield. This remains a typical Hungry Horse, but service is friendly and the background music is pretty good, in that it's not stuff that I've heard a million times over the last 50 years.

A new pub in the Hungry Horse chain which opened in February 2015. It's a formulaic pub, the like of which can be seen all around the country on retail or office parks. Interestingly, this one has six hand pumps on the bar, with Greene King IPA, Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Abbeydale Moonshine and a "guest": GK Grubber, a Six Nations-themed beer. All except the guest and the IPA had "buy five, get one free" offers. I had the IPA, which was pretty cheap at £1.30 for a half, and in pretty good nick (still a boring beer, though). Not my sort of pub, but it's good to see a substantial real ale offering, albeit totally mainstream, and they seemed to be doing a reasonable trade.
