Moby Duck left this review about The Red Lion
A newly opened pub, The Red Lion was formerly known as Next Door At The George,a restaurant bar, It was however originally an Alehouse called The Red Lion dating back to the 17th century but spent many years as a grocers. Owned now by Red Mist Leisure its back as a pub albeit quite strongly food influenced. There is a modern feel about the interior with white walls and ceiling, with some inlaid timber along some sturdy timber uprights, on the walls themselves are some RAF related pictures and memorabilia,a nod toward nearby RAF Odiham. There is mixed seating throughout, some bench, some high and some low, also some outside high street chairs and tables, back inside there was a newspaper rack with a few Sunday publications available for reading. On the bar along with the various keg fonts are four hand pumps, the ales on were predictably middle of the road choices, Red Mist Ale (a house beer brewed by Andwell's), Andwell's Gold Muddler, Hogs Back TEA and a new one on me Tilford Rushmoor Ripper, this turned out to be an overly sweet mid strength brown beer, not my prefered style but the condition was good.
Any new pub opening is a positive thing and it's a pub I would consider for a meal and a pint, but given the lacklustre beer choice I wouldn't want a session here.
