Will Larter left this review about Punchbowl Inn
An attractive old building on the edge of this delightful village, opposite Askham Hall. On a busy, sunny Sunday afternoon it was busy, both outside and within. There are a few benches in front of the pub and a small garden, while the inside looked interesting but too crowded for me to find a seat or to take note of individual features. Staff were rushed off their feet but still managed time to be polite and friendly. I took my half of Tirril Ullswater Blonde outside, where it fulfilled my expectations as far as blandness is concerned, but was in good condition. The other beers were equally bland: ex-Thwaites Wainwright and Loweswater Gold (a fourth hand pump being unoccupied), so I don't think I missed anything. A pleasant enough refuelling stop on my cycle ride from Appleby to Patterdale, and I won't let the blandness of the beer stop me repeating the exercise another time.
