David Ross left this review about The Ballroom
Formerly a members only snooker club called Riley’s, this is still a snooker club, hence the name, but the bar is now open to the public without the necessity of taking out membership. In addition to numerous full size snooker tables, there are British and American pool tables, darts and poker facilities and a sales showroom. These are all at ground level, while the upper floor has a function suite which is available for hire. The style is similar to its sister establishments, also all called The Ballroom, in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Dunfermline. The bar is plush, with low level lighting and comfortable and plentiful seating. There are several TV screens, most showing sports, but one showing a music channel. Prices are on the high side for the town, with Guinness at £3.30 a pint and Caledonia Best, Magners cider and Tennent‘s, Stella Artois, Budweiser and Peroni lagers also on draught. In addition, there is a fairly impressive wine list and cocktail menu and food is available all day every day. Although it’s mainly sports orientated, this doesn’t intrude overly on the bar area and it’s a pleasant place to just have a drink or meal.
