Blackthorn _ left this review about Grounded
Another outpost of the popular Grounded chain, this was the second time of trying to get in here with it being full to capacity on a previous Friday evening visit. This time on a Tuesday it was completely different and we were initially the only punters in there, although a couple of others wandered in later.
Décor wise it follows the usual formulaic trend of such places with stripped wooden boards on the floor and predominantly maroon paintwork on the walls with contrasting mustard at the rear. Seating is predominantly chunky tables and chairs and clearly geared up for diners with menus on all the tables, as well as a candle. A few old Chesterfield sofas were arranged around a low table in one of the front windows, whilst chandeliers provided the lighting. Some artwork was on the walls which appeared as though it may have been available to buy, and a couple of book shelves were over to one side.
Food appears to be the main focus here and besides the aforementioned table menus, there was an extensive selection chalked up on a blackboard. Drinks didn’t fare so well unfortunately, with no cask options being available just keg Bath Gem and Beerd Vigilante. The solitary cider was Bounders. Overall I thought this was a decent enough place for what it is, and if I were after a bite to eat I might well return. But it’s not a pub in the traditional sense and I would be unlikely to pop in again just for a drink.
