A large pub serving 6 cask ales. It was quiet on this afternoon visit which made the hideous instrumental MOR tunes coming through the speakers all the more grating. A nice place though.

Named after a former mayor of Manchester who served 2 separate terms in office in the 1800's. This is a newly opened two floored pub and restaurant with a boutique hotel above. The ground floor is nicely designed with dark wood partitions giving the impression of several areas. The upstairs area has more seating and a small restaurant and another bar which is only open at busy times. The downstairs bar has 6 handpumps and the upstairs one a further two, although the upstairs ones are doubled up with 2 of the beers downstairs. It's owned by Hydes brewery so the beers are usually Hydes or from their other "craft beer" incarnation Beer Studio. My pint of Beer Studio Prague was in good nick and the prices were fairly reasonable for the city centre. The other half hasn't been here yet, but she'll love it.
