Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Fred's Ale House
Slightly unusual micro-pub, because it has a small lounge at the front before you get to the narrow, rectangular bar. This has a more modern look than most, and had three TV screens in use (showing a Manchester United home game). It also has a 'coffee lounge' and a little roof terrace upstairs, plus a single table out front underneath the overhanging frontage. With seven handpumps on the counter, I found Wainwright, the Irk Street Pale and Stroopwafel collaboration from Blackjack, Hophurst's Cosmati (3.60), Jaipur, Bollington Best and Old Rosie's cider.

As we were perusing the range of seven ales on handpump at the bar, the barman handed us a leaflet and explained that they were having a mini beer festival out in the back patio area. So after purchasing some vouchers we headed out for a few beers. They had ten casks on stillage, so we went for the Conway Autumn Red, Iron Pier English Pale and Iron Pier IPA. The prices were ok at £3.20 a pint. The main bar and lounge area was quite sparse in décor and had two main seating areas, one near the front window and a second mid section area. We also went for a couple of their regular Black Jack beers from the main bar. The staff were friendly and the locals were all friendly and chatty.

A 2 floored micropub which is unusual. The upstairs area is a small room with a giant TV and a couple of sofas. Downstairs is larger with an outside seating area at the front. 6 handpumps on the bar, 5 for ale and 1 for real cider. This pub was featured in a "Stagger" in Opening Times and the 5 beers available were exactly the same on my visit as on the "Stagger" over a month before, so these may not change much. There were 3 from Hophurst and 2 from Blackjack. Both pints I had were in very good nick though and came with a 30p per pint CAMRA discount, there's no discount on halves. The barman was friendly as were the other customers. It's definitely the best ale pub in Levenshulme, even if they don't change much.

A micropub sized pub with more seating outside than in. 6 handpumps with 4 for real ale and 2 for cider/perry on this visit. There is a jukebox in here so for those who don't like music in their pub its best to steer clear. Inside it is a narrow place with bare floors. A few tellies dotted around..
