My first visit for a few years, though I have memories of a very good Marble Manchester Bitter in the reopening period after one of the Covid lockdowns. There's an odd smell on entering, a combination of dogs, old sacks of wheat and recently sawn wood. Maybe I need to see an olfactory specialist. My two beers from Kirkstall and RedWillow were in very good condition, and the latter's Weightless was the first beer I can recall that was both described as a session IPA and enjoyable. Other beers were as photos, and such that I actually regretted not being able to try another two or three.

Fairly quiet on our Thursday, mid afternoon visit, but by no means dead. Two rooms with a couple of steps up to the rear area. A much more traditional style than the nearby Eccleshall Ale Club with minimalist decoration. Although there are some pictures on the walls and loads of pump clips in the rear room. All the beers were fairly local and the two we tried were both in good nick. Quite liked this one and will definitely call again when down here next time.

Officially Sheffield's first micropub, the Beer House opened in December 2014. It has quickly established a local following and I have never been here when it could be described as quiet. In fact last night it was positively noisy, but this had more to do with the quizmaster's unnecessary bellow than the hubbub of conversation. There's always an interesting selection of beers on the bar, mostly from local breweries such as Stancil, Fuggle Bunny, Brampton and Blue Bee. I left resolving to return in future on non-Wednesdays.
