This is due to close for good after Sunday 10th April 2016. It's being demolished for the provision of a new Registry Office to replace the old Gothic building in Grove Road and no doubt make a mint out of the sale of the land. Extra parking space for the Town Hall Council staff (probably just the bosses and councillors) is also being provided despite their efforts to get anyone else using bicycles or public transport. The stench of hypocrisy is overwhelming.

This is a club so membership is restricted to club members but production of a CAMRA membership card will allow entry as a visitor.
It's commonly known as the "shack at the back" as the location is East of the Town Hall behind and to the right of the Assembly Hall.
As you enter there is a small bar in front of you in a large carpeted room with plenty of seating. To the left is a TV room and to the far right a sports room.
Normally two ales are available Crouch Vale Essex Boys and a guest from East London or Essex although there are two more handpumps available for special occasions.
Limited lunchtime hot food is available.
Two beer festivals are held each year normally in April and November. These are usually regionally themed.
