David Ross left this review about McCaig's Return
Although it's the bar of the Claredon Hotel, this is very much a locals' pub, with a rather rowdy and drunken crowd present on both nights I visited. The bar was dark with flashing lights and loud karaoke was being committed, despite the fact that it was early in the evening. A pint of Tennent's lager cost me £3.15 and Tartan Special, Caledonia Best, Guinness, Stella Artois and Magners cider were also on draught. Accommodation is available from as little as £25 per night, but as there are numerous alternatives in Oban at only slightly higher prices, I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless cost is your priority. The same applies to drinking, as there are several much better pubs only a short walk away. The name, incidentally, refers to McCaig's Folly, the Coliseum -like structure which overlooks the town.
