The staff are fab. Really helpful and good fun. Andy (barman) pours a great beer and remembers what you drink. Polly cooks a mean roast on a Sunday - its awesome and plenty of it.
Great all rounder

I have enjoyed a very substantial Sunday lunch at this traditional and un-ponsified pub. What you see is what you get. No frills just good hospitality and good home cooked food. Value for money and a warm welcome. Isn't that what a pub should be?

This is what you call a pub. If your looking for a fantastic welcome and great quality beer, well kept and served with home cooked fare, then look no further. Every one of the staff here are spot on and could teach other pubs a thing or two about service with a personal touch. The Sunday lunch for £5 is very generous and pretty good quality too ! Ok, it's not Claridges, but isn't that what great British pubs are all about ? Service, great beer with home cooked fare. Would recommend to anyone.

The staff were very friendly, however this was the only redeeming factor. The atmosphere was not disimilar to a housing estate, sky sports, carling black label, fight night venue. The 'resturaunt' was filled with half cut, rowdy england supporters on their way to a wedding.
Now for the food. Remember the good old..er bad old days of school dinners, now shop in iceland get the prison chef involved and we gotta menu.
My partner had the salmon dish, her daughter had sausage and chips and I had the smoked haddock. Sounds good eh?..Wrong!
The salmon turned up with new potatoes and veg with a 'sauce', my own was veg with what I can only guess was crushed potatoes with runny egg combined and 'the sauce' Hmmm.
Now on to 'the sauce' That was not unlike those lovely powdered catering filth you get from Bookers.
Sausage and chips as expected with neopolitan icecream, yum. Wish I had that.
Very bad over priced pig swill.
