The Old Exeter Inn is, as the name suggests an ancient and traditional pub, with all the features you'd expect: multiple rooms, flagstones floors, dark wood everywhere, low lighting and a few low beams, ale from the cask and a pub bore at the bar, wittering away at anyone who'll listen as well as those with no choice.
Food is predominantly pies, with a top-end price of £16.95, though sadly not with a top-end size. Just one ale from the 3 casks was on for my visit, but the Yellowhammer was first rate. Jaipur was an unexpected feature amongst the kegs.
Well worth investigating and exploring - the manager is rightfully enthusiastic about the gem he has on his hands, but I'd hope that the tiresome bloke expounding at the bar will be absent for your visit.
