Nick Davies left this review about The Royal Horse

I said the other day that the JDW in town was by far the worst pub in Warwick. But I'd never been in the Royal Horse, which is a strong competitor for the title.

It exists thanks to the Warwick Gates estate across the road and the industrial estate which surrounds the other three sides. I entered through the door signed 'main entrance' after crossing the nicotine picket line to find myself in a pool/darts posing tables area which you have to navigate to get to the bar. Beyond is a fairly pubby bit leading to the dining area, deserted at 6pm midweek. The clientele consisted largely of blokes having drinks after work, a couple of lone women with prams showing their kids what life's all about, and a few young families, more prams, enjoying the fruits of the microwave.

Several handpumps, none clipped, one with 'Abbot' embossed on it, which I declined in favour of prettily served eurofizz.

It, of course, a Greene King Hungry Horse, as low-rent as it gets, this one salvaged by cheerful service.

Gravy burger anyone? I don't know either.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Horse

Large, new-build Hungry Horse on the edge of town. Usual anonymous, modern furniture and decor in a multiplicity of seating / dining areas. Also has a small patio on one side and a larger patio beer garden / children's play area on another. Two banks of three handpumps on different parts of the bar counter, dispensing Greene King IPA and (more surprisingly, and pleasingly) Sir Titus from Saltaire (£3.25).
