The Pavilion, Weston Super Mare

Located in a prime spot overlooking the sea front opposite Knightstone Island, this is a decent sized pub that looks a little shabby perhaps from the outside, but internally it seems to have been recently renovated and looks quite smart, albeit lacking much in the way of any character.

Décor wise it could almost be described as slightly blingy and is configured in an L-shape with the bar counter off to the right. There is pale wood strip on the floor as well as some tiling around the bar, a plain whitewashed ceiling with recessed downlighters and some hanging chrome light fittings and a mixture of taupe paint and patterned green wallpaper on the walls. Seating meanwhile was a mixture of fitted padded bench seating around much of the perimeter and a mixture of wood and padded chairs. A few colourful posters advertising Weston were on the walls. There is also a terrace at the front to make the most of the outlook.

Unfortunately there were no real ales on tap, or any beer at all come to that. Ciders fared a little better with Thatcher’s Gold and Inch’s Medium Apple, although a trio of Thatcher’s Burnt Orange, Cloudy Lemon and Apple & Blackcurrant were all off. Overall, whilst the terrace is a pleasant enough spot for the warmer weather, with no beer and no atmosphere I can’t really see any reason to bother with this one.
