Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Court Leet (JD Wetherspoon)
Modern branch of Wetherspoon's which was busy on my Sunday morning visit. It's the usual open-plan layout with a staircase dividing things up a little. The staircase leads up to an outdoor terrace and the toilets.
At the bar, the usual 'spoon's beers were on - Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar, along with 5 guest beers - Brightside Odin & Secret Santa, Wily Fox Yule Be Back, Thornbridge Jaipur & Brain's The Rev James.
I was worried as to how long breakfast would take to arrive, given the number of other customers. However, sitting next to the food service counter at the rear, I soon saw exactly how Wetherspoon's manage to get through so many breakfasts. It was almost like a factory production line, but without the quality checks. This was probably the smallest portion of baked beans I've ever been served.
The beer range was good for Ormskirk, but the lack of a dark beer or a cider was a little disappointing for me. My Secret Santa was distinctly average, which is also the score I will give. At least the Covid screens have been removed since the last review.

a modern and rather bland Spoons with a bland beer choice today (Wainwrights, Moorhouses Straw Dog and Phoenix Dragon IPA plus the usuals ). bit of a cafeteria style place inside with a mostly older clientele sat at regimented tables. It still had naff looking Covid screens separating tables as a relic of the plague era. Maybe they are preempting the return of distancing regulations and can’t be bothered to take them down. Open kitchen at the far end, so you can watch your food being pulled out of the freezer. It was ticking along on a thursday afternoon but didn’t really inspire, there isn’t much choice in Ormskirk but I would definitely head for the Tap Room over this place.

The easiest way to find this Spoons was to come out of the Tap Room No 12 and take a right. Walk up the pedestrian street for about 50 yards and you will see Wheatsheaf Walk on the same side and Spoons. The entrance to this large modern and contemporary pub is on the corner, once through the doors you will find the bar area down the left hand side, which had a black granite counter top and a dark stained timber bar front. The kitchen area was positioned at the far end of the building. A set of booths was positioned along the large window front, which overlooked a carpark. There was also a roof terrace, accessible via a staircase or lift, near the main entrance. Ten handpumps with a few worthy ales, Peerless Skyline, Lancaster Bomber, Moorhouse's White Witch and Red Star IPA. The interior had lots rustic timber panels and large ceiling lamps.

The Court Leet is a modern box presumably built by JDW with the bar at the rear and typical fixtures and fittings. It was doing a good trade on my Wednesday evening visit.
The bar has ten hand pumps which had one unused, three available soon, the JDW Trio Of Doom, Brightside Best & Topaz and Hawkshead Windermere Pale. I went for the Topaz (£2.29) which was in good nick. I also ordered a half chicken from the Chicken Club which was taken on the till but a few minutes later a girl came round to say they had run out. I was tempted to scrap it but ordered the chicken breast instead. When it arrived I wished I had scrapped it as was a morsel rather than a breast and was like a piece of old leather.
I may have hit this one on a bad day but I thought it was rubbish. Laughably it's GBG 2017 listed.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Court Leet (JD Wetherspoon)
Modern 'spoons benefiting from large windows around the outer edges of the 'L'-shaped bar, and the relatively light furniture and decor. Good range of real ales from the two banks of five handpumps, and my pint of Weetwood Eastgate Bitter (£2.25) was in good shape. NB - Avoid sitting near the rear door if the wind is blowing!

Seems to have done for the Buck across the road and can be beset by the usual Spoons problems but a better Spoons than most. Good terrace upstairs. Has a lift for kids to play in by the looks of it.

After 2 earlier applications refused Ormskirk finally managed a Wetherspoons which opened in May 2014,and is named after a medieval court in the 1600's that was close to this site.
The pub was bright and clean with an open view kitchen and 2 banks of 6 cask beers on the bar.On the upper floor there is a smart beer terrace(Wheelchair accessible by lift)which should get the sun for a large part of the day.
