Another Margate pub in a fine location - at the end of the pier. Outside bench seating. Nautical theme inside.
Gravity fed beers - Darkstar Hophead a lovely drop.

Nautical themed micropub on the Margate harbour arm. A single square room with a pleasing light blue colour scheme on the brick walls, but not that you can see much of it behind the eclectic collection of nautical brick a brac covering all walls and suspended from the ceiling by several fishing nets.
Three ales from the barrel and for my visit these were Breakwater Harbour Gold , Severn Brewing Amarillo and Mad Cat Plum Sauce Porter. I tried both the local Kent Brews and they were in good condition and the Rhubarb Cider from the dozen or so ciders available here went down well with the good lady.
We had a fine weather lunchtime and were able to utilise the outside benches which were catching the sun and in that respect this was a good visit.
I liked it here but Mrs G didn’t find it as comfortable as some of the other Kent micros on this trip.

This micropub was busy on our Saturday afternoon visit. The weather most probably played a key factor, being hot and sunny and there was also a display of Morris dancers in action out front when we arrived. We managed to get a couple of seats inside, which seemed slightly more civilised to sample the beers they were offering up. Three beers on a chalkboard near the till, which were Hopdaemon Golden Braid, Hopdaemon Incubus and Westerham American Bulldog. I went for the Hopdaemon Golden Braid. which was fair to middle. There was also a comprehensive choice of 13 ciders to choose from.

This is an unusual micropub in that it is set in little more than an old hut towards the end of the Harbour Arm. I should imagine it's fun accessing it on a stormy day with a high spring tide.
Inside it's just a rectangular room with a concrete floor and furniture that mostly looks like it came from a skip. There is bric-a-brac everywhere much of it nautical which all adds to the chaos. There seems to be a tie in with the cafe almost next door as a couple came in asking for teas and they were bought in by the cafe owner.
There were three beers available, several ciders including a mulled one laced with rum, a few gins and some bottles of San Miguel for the knotted handkerchief brigade when the weather's a bit warmer than it was on a January afternoon. The beers were G2 Orion Session Pale, something called Firkin Southern Cross and Wantsum Ravening Wolf. I went for the Ravening Wolf which was £3.50 but is a 5.9% beer. Sadly I missed out on the CAMRA discount.
Some people might regard this place as a bit of a dive and in some ways it is but given the exposed location luxurious fittings would be daft. I really liked it but I'm not sure that I would come here in the summer. It seems to be open from 12:00 daily.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Harbour Arms
A nautical-themed micro-pub located in two former fishermen's sheds towards the end of the historic harbour arm (and having moved one unit along from its original position). Mix of basic seating inside, but also benefiting from someone additional patio tables outside (overlooking the boats and bathers, and very popular on a hot summer afternoon). Four real ales served direct from the cask, all at £3.00, including a decent pint of Old School Textbook. 10+ real ciders also available.

Opening back in the Spring of 2013, this is another of Thanet's ever expanding number of micropubs, this time situated inside a former coal store towards the end of Margate's concrete pier. As with most micropubs, all modern distractions have been stripped out, leaving the beer to take centre stage, with compact confines creating an environment conducive to conversation. The room has a bare concrete floor and some exposed brick walls, with a short servery tucked away at the rear, next to the taproom where the beer is poured directly from the cask. There is a high table with stools to the right whilst benches and standard chairs serve two more tables in a slightly extended left hand area. A barrel in the middle provides the only other drinking surface, although plenty of people had spilled outside where a few more tables can be found. Somehow, room has been found for an upright piano and I noticed an acoustic guitar propped up in another corner, so maybe some impromptu sing-a-longs are par for the course? One wall has been covered with the obligatory pump clip collection, whilst another shows various pictures of the harbour, pub, its staff and regulars and another displays classical seascape paintings. A fishing net hangs down from the ceiling and it appears to have hauled in some inflatable fish, a football, some lanterns and a mermaid among other things. An old stove stands on the left hand wall, with some old lanterns, candles and bottles on top, although I'm not sure it gets much use. A few board games are also available, piled up near to the front door.
On this visit the ale options were Gadds Time Ball, Dark Star Hophead, Hopdaemon Incubus and Wantsum Dynamo, with an impressive eight real ciders and perries also available and proving popular. I had a pint of the Dynamo, but was disappointed to find it was very flat and not very enjoyable. My other half had one of the ciders which was also in a bit of a poor state and served very warm. This was a shame and I noted that a lot of customers were sampling the Gadds which had been launched at the pub a couple of days previous to commemorate the restoration of Margate Clocktower's timeball and looked like it was in sparking condition.
I thought this was one of the better micropubs that I have visited, especially in terms of the ambience and aesthetics within, but I was really let down by a couple of very poor drinks which have clouded my judgement. I saw enough that I would be prepared to give the place another try, but maybe ask for a taster before committing to a pint.
