High up above the road through Penalun, or Penally in English, this pub is difficult to photograph. A "temporary" shelter over the patio seating in front only exacerbates this, so no criticism please.

Once inside there was a strong smell of food, but I ignored this once I saw that Dark Side of the Moose was one of three cask beers on the bar. Sadly, it was a bit underwhelming, being short on flavour until it warmed up a little - though I hadn't found it to be particularly cold. Maybe this is just a beer that works better in bottles? I asked the licensee about the wifi code, but he said it was the code-free Cloud, which my phone did not pick up in this signal blackspot so there was no sign of it.

These gripes aside, this could be a really nice pub, but maybe I caught it at a bad time. It's in the GBG but my experience of a beer that I have enjoyed before was only a grudging NBSS 2.5.
