The Whiskey Jar is open plan with an L-shaped bar on the rear wall that supports premium keg. During a recent midweek visit a band was set up in the front window and the place was very busy, but chilled. Friendly staff and I’d return at a quieter time when I can get a seat.

A fairly decent though not great place. No real ale and a pretty limited choice of fizz too. But for some reason I found it OK. Its all wooden floored and dim lighting but was friendly enough apart from some beard prick behind the bar.

I think we need a photo of this bar when it's open as it's a lot better place than it looks in the one posted on here at the moment. As you enter the main bar entrance is to the left. There's also a downstairs area called The Still which is available for hire. The upstairs area is one fairly small room with bare brick walls and wooden flooring. During our visit there were fairy lights at the windows which looked good, although this may just have been for Xmas. There are a few comfy sofa's and seats along with some dining tables and chairs. There's a DJ rig in the corner, so it probably gets noisy later on. No real ale, so I had a Becks. The other half had a glass of red wine which she thought was decent. I'm not sure why it's called The Whiskey Jar really as they didn't appear to have a large array of malts. It seemed to be serving more cocktails than anything. It's a decent enough place, but you won't get a real ale here.
