Stumbled upon this one accidentally, thought it was a sports and social club at first so was ready to blag my way in. And in reality it is, as it’s a cricket club bar (Falkland Cricket Club) but open to the public. A large open room, with a ‘bon appetite’ dining room to the far right (Sunday roasts available). Three pumps at the bar serving up two ales, Doom Bar and a decent drop of Gales Seafarers at an astonishingly cheap price (for West Berkshire!) - £2.45. Efficient if brusque bar service. Pool, darts, TV sports and a dodgy quizzer that was in its death throes as a number of the touch screen areas didn’t work. An inevitably strong cricket theme throughout, including wall-mounted wooden boards listing former club captains. Apparently the place overlooks the cricket pitch but it was so dark on my nocturnal visit I didn’t notice. Not exactly going to win awards for its interior but I can imagine that watching the cricket here on a summer’s day with a good pint or three would be an experience that’s hard to beat.
