Now this is a real find – a proper character pub, like an old Victorian parlour (so presumably a retro refit from the 1960’s??). Two thirds dark wood panelling, carpeted, pot plants, loads of objects d'art (grandfather clock, upright piano, pottery, busts, artwork, rolls of honour) and, oddly, a pool table (bar billiards would be far more appropriate!). Looks like keg only on entering but there is an ale drawn off the barrel at the far side of the bar. Fullers Front Row on my visit, in good shape. Definitely one to pop out and sample.
