It's just been named as the Gwent CAMRA Pub of the Year. I can see why. My first time in here and I felt at home immediately, chatting easily with the landlord and some regulars. Great choice of cask beers. It's St David's Day and they're celebrating by giving anyone named Dave a free pint. Silly idea, but I can't see many chain pubs doing that. I don't come to Chepstow often, but I made a great choice by strolling in here.

described as a micro pub, but its more of a small traditional pub, unspoilt and very much a beer den. Small front bar leads to a similar back area. Filled with CAMRA types but the ale is great

Cheery little micro which looks like a pub – and that’s because it occupies part of a former public house. A traditional interior with some bits looking like they’ve come from an old church or chapel such as the bar front. I loved the map of Wales with the location of the breweries and suppliers marked up. No indoor seating when we arrived so we were directed to pavement chairs but when a table became free the genial landlord was on-the-ball enough to pop out and invite us back inside. Five (I think) ales on; 3x Grey Trees (sampled via thirds flight - Diggers Gold, Mosaic and Afghan – 2.5/2.5/3), Oakham Black Magic Porter (NBSS 3.5) Twti Lol Frwti Twt (NBSS 3). The downside was that the beer was served fairly warm in most cases, little-to-no cooling, which wasn’t great for the lighter ales. A nice place, but the beer really should be a bit cooler to make it top-notch. 7.5

Great little micropub with friendly service. I didn't have long as my last bus left at 5.30 so I didn't note all the beers. All I can say is that the one I had was excellent and I would like to spend a little more time in here in the future!

Really enjoyed our visit to this micropub which features in the 2019 Good Beer Guide. Staff and locals friendly, and with no TV conversation rules ok. Ales on offer were Zulu Alpha Evolution, Hopcraft Goldings Balls, Hopcraft/Waen Pamplemoose, Grey Trees Azacca APA, Evans Evans CWRW, and TWT Lol Tuti Fruiti. There was a massive blackboard on the wall with the beer list, and a brilliant map of Wales with the location of the breweries being served marked up. Great place.
