I stayed in the West Retford Hotel during a recent visit to the town. The small blue carpeted bar area with two brown sofas and some tables is found behind reception. A small wooden serving counter in the right front corner supports Carlsberg, Tetleys, Poretti, Kronenbourg, Somersby Cider, Brooklyn Lager and Guinness. There was some very low background music playing and I was the only customer. This is a run-of-the-mill hotel bar that nobody other than hotel guests are going to use, in fact next time I stay in this decent hotel I’ll not be visiting this bar.
