Formerly known as the Cedarwood, this is a one storey, modern building containing a separate bar and lounge, although only the former was open on the Friday afternoon I dropped in. Although not much to look at from outside, it’s quite attractive inside, with lots of wood panelling, Scotland flags hanging from the ceiling and pewter pots, railwayman‘s lamps, antique kettles and various other items of bric-a-brac on the shelves. There’s a pool table in one corner, TV screens at both ends and a juke box. The large, rectangular room has padded seating around the walls, chairs at tables and wooden beer barrels in the middle of the floor for additional leaning space. Prices are reasonable, with Tennent’s lager at £2.60 a pint and Guinness, Caledonia Best and Magner’s Golden Draught cider also on draught.
