Will Larter left this review about The Riverside Cafe - Bar & Terrace
A new building near to Hillsborough Stadium, the main part is a cafe, but there's a door to the right hand side which leads directly to a staircase leading up to the bar on the first floor. This is a pleasant room with modern décor and old furniture, and a fairly small modern bar in the corner. Through a further door to the right is another room which leads out onto the terrace looking over the River Don to the stadium. Steps lead down to the similar terrace which is attached to the cafe, the gate to which was bolted at the time of my visit as the cafe was closed, but I imagine when both cafe and bar are open it would be possible to mingle.
There are six hand pumps on the bar, plus a polypin of cider and some keg fonts. Beers available were Brampton Wasp Nest, Bradfield Farmers Blonde and Blue Bee Light Blue. I had the Brampton, which was a 5% beer with a biscuity malt well balanced by bitterness and a dry finish. I haven't had a beer like this for a very long time - a pleasant surprise. I lingered over my half while watching the test match highlights on the TV (Channel 5 - I didn't see anything to indicate that Sky is available). Items of interest on the walls included some stuffed birds, some old enamel adverts and a price list that looks like it dates back about 40 years - 22p for a pint of bitter.
