A traditional looking brick built with an unusual curved frontage, which also featured some attractive old stained glass windows depicting the pub’s name, although I would hazard a guess that the signage above this mentioning en-suite rooms, burgers and cocktails is not so original.

Internally it’s quite long and narrow, and is perhaps a little more contemporary than might be expected, but certainly not at all unpleasant. It’s divided in to three sections, although they all run in to each other, with a small raised area at the front of the pub just inside the curved window which was certainly a good spot to sit and watch the world go by, and a room at the rear that was perhaps more geared up for dining, although many of the other tables were reserved on our Tuesday evening visit. Sanded wooden boards are on the floor, with plain, whitewashed plasterwork on the ceiling. Some exposed stone walling was off to one side, although I’m not convinced this was original; certainly it did not match the brick used on the exterior. There were also areas of dark blue wood panelling, and the rear room was a little more elegant in style with some sort of cladding on the back wall and blue paintwork elsewhere.

Beers on tap were Dartmoor Legend and Jail Ale, along with St Austell’s Proper Job. Ciders meanwhile were Thatcher’s Haze, Thatcher’s Gold, Lilley’s Gladiator, Inch’s Medium Apple and Lilley’s Crazy Goat. The barman was very efficient, dealing with all drinks orders, showing diners to their tables and even noticing and dealing with a split drink on the floor. Overall, a pretty decent pub and I’d happily pop back if in the area.

Attractive curved exterior with some lovely old stained glass windows. MOR place, fairly tidy if unfortunately glooped in greyish green paint inside. Four rooms via knock-through and someone's made an effort with a bunch of Beryl Cook prints as well as curtains, which I like. GBG listed with three cask, 2x Dartmoor and St Austell PJ. My Dartmoor Legend was par (NBSS 3) and the barman polite.

The King William IV is a long and thin pub with an attractive curved frontage of stained glass lead lined windows. Raised seating is found in this front windowed section, I gleaned that this is the prime seating area. The serving counter is found mid-way up the right-hand wall where it faces banquettes up the left and more seating is found at the rear. I think my recent Tuesday early evening visit may have been just before a quiz or something because all of the tables were reserved, with half of them being used at the time. Standard and premium keg were available alongside Camden Hells and I counted five hand pumps that were drawing Dartmoor Brewery’s Jail Ale and Legend alongside St Austell’s Proper Job and a couple of Thatcher’s Stan’s ciders. The service was polite and I enjoyed the busy atmosphere so I’d pop back in if passing.
