Blue Scrumpy left this review about Tap Room No 12

This is probably the pick of the pubs and bars in Ormskirk if you want a decent beer. On my initial stroll past just before midday on a Sunday, the closed sign was still in the door. However after a little wander, I returned to find it open.

Formed of a large, single room, this former shop could be classified as a micropub. However, it feels more like a bar than a micropub. There was some nice wood panelling on the walls and there appeared to be a music theme, with old posters and pictures of artists on the walls.

At the bar, there are 4 handpulls. Cask ales on were Windermere Ruff Justice, RedWillow Feckless & Buxton Axe Edge. The fourth pull was clipped with a cider - Iford New Tradition. This was the only real cider I managed to find on my tour of the Ormskirk area. Although I did fail to visit the Kas Social, which may also have stocked one or two.

Craft beers were Thornbridge Jaipur & Green Mountain, Super 8 Cherry & Lost & Grounded Wanna' Go To The Sun.

Old Boots left this review about Tap Room No 12

Bit bigger than a micro, it’s a single room with the counter at the back, four pulls with tiny breweries beers on three and a cider on the fourth. One side has drawings of music stars the other a collection of cupboards with cans and bottles. Rear single use but separate toilets. Pretty good and a must visit in Ormskirk.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Tap Room No 12

A respectable one roomed bar, comprising of a front seating area, with dark panelling down the left hand wall, a couple of half cut timber barrels fixed to the panelling with table tops and low stools. The right hand side had four red leather buttoned back benches and good sized tables. A display cabinet along the wall displayed a variety of Belgium and German empty beer bottles.
The bar area was positioned along the raised rear section of the room and was finished in a dark stained timber. Four ales on handpump, Saltaire Café Culture, Stringers Landlords Tipple, Wainwright and Salopian Kalon. I went for the Salopian, which was an excellent choice. The staff in here were great and the place had a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a good beer.

Brainy Pool left this review about Tap Room No 12

a lovely small pub/bar and the antithesis of Spoons nearby. A single small room which served four ales including a DV8 stout which was nice. otherwise one from Salopian, Old School headmaster and Wainwrights. live music advertised as well as a quiz.

A nice small pub. If you like to pose with your Weisschlöss Übergirken Monastery Brau stuff then this is the place for you.

peter ashworth left this review about Hop Inne Bier

The Old Bier Shoppe opened just before Easter 2013 and is housed in a former card shop and described by the Ormskirk Advertiser as " A quirky Victorian style beer shop for the discerning drinker"and has been brought to life by the owners of the Hop Vine Inn at nearby Burscough.
The pub is a one roomed affair with the oblong bar being at the far end of the room, with to the right the complete full length of the wall has smart glass cabinets showcasing the large range of bottled beers on offer (around 50 European bottles)On the left hand side cut off keg barrels finished with wooden tops to provide handy places for you to rest your pint. There are 3 cask beers on plus 6 continental draughts plus a Belgium beer style menu complete with tasting notes.
The opening hours are 11am till 11pm 7 days a week and this fine conversion is certainly worth a view if you are ever in the centre of Ormskirk.
