E TA left this review about Skuba Bar & Grill (Portland Hotel)

A pleasant outdoor seating area on a sea-facing terrace leads to a small, cramped, trendy bar with no real ale, uncomfortable furniture and a dead atmosphere, though we should of course have spotted that 'skuba' when said out loud is a synonym for 'dive', and it is out of season. The clientele were very stroppy about our asking for proper beer, while the staff's attitude bordered on the ignorant. Other than for a cool soft drink with a nice view, there is no reason to come back.

The Skuba Bar and Grill is a small thin bar with tiled flooring that is part of the Portland Hotel, but feels like a separate bar. The bar in the right hand corner is stocked with standard draught and there was some music playing in the background. There is a plasma screen which was switched off and I saw no signs of Sky Sports. Outside the front of the bar is a tree lined garden with seating.

There was a decent crowd in on Monday evening and I would happily drink here if I was a guest of the hotel, but I wouldn’t intentionally seek this place out again.
