Newly-opened, this is styled as a “public house and Italian kitchen” though in reality it’s mainly a restaurant with a small bar area. Drinks choice is fairly limited: on keg we had Aspalls (£1.90 a half), Guinness, Birra Moretti and San Miguel. There were also a limited selection of bottles/spirits plus a decent selection of wines. Décor-wise, it’s stripped wood flooring and unfussy stylings. Features of note included an impressive wall drape of food in a neo-classical style, lots of horse and jockey images on the walls plus a wood burning stove with attendant sofas. Piped lounge muzak wafted around to complement the restaurant vibe. No newspapers here but a plethora of local lifestyle mags. To the rear is a smart conservatory and outdoor drinking area. Marked purely as a pub it doesn’t have a huge amount to recommend it; perhaps one for ladies who lunch? Rated 5
