A Greene King thatched pub close to the banks of the Exe but these days surrounded by modern housing,it's a GBG regular based on the fact that guest ales are also offered beside the awful GK brews,maybe this is a Local Heros tie arrangement.The side entrance leads to a raised side section with dining style tables while the front door leads to the main tap room with very low ceiling beams and an authentic feel.The beer patio at the front gives great views of the busy traffic junction.It's a popular boozer with little competition close by and on my visit the ale choice was GK Abbot,Old Golden Hen and a House Ale at 3.9% no doubt another GK brew rebadged.Thankfully two guests Salcombe Lifesaver and Glastonbury Liquid Hoptimism (NBSS Good).
If I lived locally this would be my regular pub,it's a 15 minute walk from St Davids station if visiting from afar.

A slog over from the Spoons for this GBG’23 entry. Indeed it is thatched, so that made me feel positive. A slightly awkward layout befitting previous knock-throughs; the servery is off-right as you enter, via a pretty tiled floor and a jumbo vinyl banner proclaiming their status as the local CAMRA's 2023 POTY winners. Very quiet on early Saturday afternoon, just me and another punter. A warm welcome from behind the bar after my Chernobyl t-shirt was spotted - the lass was Ukrainian which sparked-off a lively chat about her homeland. Five cask and a cider available which seemed a tad optimistic - one GK (for it is owned by them) and four local brews. My Exeter County Best was in decent shape all things considered (NBSS 3) and a CAMRA discount was actively offered. A tidy local serving the local upmarket area, though I didn't catch it at its best, it felt like an evening venue.
