UPDATE
Now reopened and much as before - more of a slant on the food side of things and still cosy inside with exposed beams and stone walls. Of the four handpumps, two both dispensed Brakspear Bitter so there's still an association there somewhere (£3.90 for a pint). They need to do something about the muzak though - either bin it or up their game - crimes to musicdom included Bryan Adams (the 16 weeks at No.1 one), Celine Dion and Glenn Medeiros (remember him?)

This Brakspear village inn was in the hands of a Michelin Star-winning husband and wife team who left earlier in the year. It's allegedly under temporary management and operating limited hours, but a couple of recent visits have seen it shut and a large 'Freehold For Sale' sign erected by the car park. Shame, as it's a nice Olde Worlde place, all low beams and exposed stone inside. Fingers crossed for the future, but one to keep tabs on over the next 3 to 6 months.
