Old Blue left this review about Salutation Inn
A smallish L-shaped pub on the A46 just south of Caistor, the ‘Sali’ was a traditional pub which had closed, but has re-opened with modern, pale coloured decor and furnishings. You enter to the middle of the ‘L’, and find the bar opposite, with the front of the pub being a smart restaurant area with a roaring fire at the end, whilst the rear leg is a less formal pub area. Service was friendly and efficient, and the four ale pumps were offering Doombar, Greene King IPA, and Milestone Prancer Dancer, with the fourth unused. My Milestone was fine. The menu was fairly traditional pub food, very well cooked from proper ingredients and generously portioned.
On one level, we felt this place was having a bit of an identity crisis, being finished more as a smart modern restaurant whilst operating more as a pub, but it worked well for us – nice sometimes to be able to have a really good pub meal in smart surroundings without having to pay a ‘gastro’ premium. I hope they do well.
