I don’t really know what I was expecting from the Tudor Hotel bar, a seemingly ancient establishment in the middle of Bridgwater, but it wasn’t this, I don’t think. It doesn’t feel at all sophisticated or historic, more like a lounge bar, but with live sports showing on two large screens with projectors and some TVs. It’s a single square room, laminate floored, a raised area at one side which is carpeted. There is a covered courtyard area between the bar and the hotel, which houses various wooden benches and tables, but falls short of being a beer garden. There is a large cocktail menu, some foreign lager and two handpumps, one of which was dispensing Doombar. The ale was in average condition. The barman was friendly, while the clientele was exclusively male, emphasising the sports bar image. The background music was quite relaxing, the seats comfy, and there are far worse places in Bridgwater. Doesn’t open lunchtimes though.
