Outside the old centre of Winslow, this corner pub has some '30s trappings in some of the internal light wood panelling which appear original and may have been a two-roomer in a previous life. However, that's probably where any interest ends as it's a tired old beast with the main bar area being a rectangular room entered from Buckingham Road with the bar facing. There's some banquette seating to the left within a bay window: an area partially hidden by a wide column. A few tables and chairs in the main bar area and a raised area far right which has two small circular tables with intricate iron legs and leather-upholstered chairs, which stand out from the rest of the decor, although the peeling wallpaper here carries on the overriding feeling of disinterest. Surprisingly, there were two ales on - Burton Bitter and Lancaster Bomber. Unsurprisingly, my pint of the Burton was on the iffy side, even though good value at £3.10 it was. The prevailing air of apathy here makes one wonder how long such an attitude can survive in the current climate.
