Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Eagles (Ty Uchaf)
The Eagles enjoys a lovely peaceful location in a remote Snowdonia village. Opening times appear to be limited. WhatPub lists it as open from 6:45pm on a Thursday. I arrived just after 7pm to find the pub fairly busy with locals. I suspect it had been open much earlier than I had ascertained.
There are a couple of rooms. One is labelled "bar" and the other "not bar". I chose the bar where a wood burner in a fireplace was lit but not giving off much heat. The room is carpeted with pictures of the local topography on the walls. A TV was switched off, in favour of music. A piano was also available to play.
The pub featured in the 2025 Good Beer Guide. Greene King IPA is a regular cask ale. There was a house beer called Eagles Golden Ale from an unknown provenance and a guest beer was Sandstone Edge. I chose the latter but quickly regretted it. The beer had clearly not been pulled through by the young barman, or anybody else for that matter. That probably explains why it does not feature in the latest Beer Guide. Locals obviously knew too, as I couldn't see anybody else drinking the ales. Hobgoblin Session IPA was available on keg. The cider was Aspall's.
Beer quality apart, I did quite like this pub. It is now run by the local community and clearly popular with that same community.
