Will Larter left this review about White Horse Inn / Tafarn Penllan

Reopened in March and now serving Bass as the sole cask beer. It was busy at the time of my visit with families having evening meals. I had a chat with the licensee, who told me his cask beer is going well, and he reckons he's had to throw away less than about a quarter of a barrel over the two months they've been open. This is a pretty obscure place to visit for a meal or a drink - I walked across fields through herds of cows and flocks of sheep to get here from the camp site at Rynys Farm two miles away. But definitely worth the effort.

Blue Scrumpy left this review about White Horse Inn

The White Horse is at the centre of Capel Garmon village, but is somewhere you wouldn't find in passing. We'd seen from a couple of Google reviews that the pub had been trading in the height of last summer, but we couldn't find any social media presence or even a working telephone number. As such, we weren't expecting to find it open when we arrived on the car park at midday on a Sunday. However lo and behold, there were another couple sat in a car waiting for the pub to open and it opened a few minutes later. New owners said they had re-opened it fairly recently.

It has a fairly basic interior, circling around a central bar. From our table we could see the cellar through the floorboards. The other couple had arrived for lunch, but we were there just for a drink. There was even a cask ale on the bar from a brewery we had passed on our way west along the A5 - Cwrw Nant Aur Y Felin, a golden beer.

The young landlady was very chatty and welcoming. I really hope they can make a good go of this pub, as it's a charming place in a secluded village.
